I knew not to expect a wild nightlife and places of western bands and that there would be no bars or casinos. True to the anticipation, none of these appeared. It was fortunate, then, that I never liked the casinos have long tired of nightclubs (I never really liked them anyway) and have been to three concerts over the last twenty years . So it does not really troubled me. As for the lack of bars and alcohol, however, adaptation to what has been a major shock to the system - but in fact a much less difficult than I anticipated. I was very surprised.After all, I would say I had at least some alcohol for about 98% of all days since my eighteenth birthday. No doubt I've never missed a day of thirst for beer in Slovakia over the last six years. It was one thing noticeable about my time in India, in fact: that I would actually sometimes go four or five days without drinking a beer. This kind of experience of abstinence was something I really noticed. Does this mean that until recently I was an alcoholic, or just a heavy drinker? Who knows? Not an alcoholic, I always wanted to think.I always said this was proven by the fact that I did not drink spirits, but very rarely, and did not think of alcohol as soon as I woke up in the morning. I also said I could give it up "if I really wanted" or "if I had." The thing is that I never wanted, I could never afford to drink, especially in Slovakia, where the beer is so cheap. However, this presumption, which comforted me in my liver disturbing moments, I could abandon it if I wanted, was never anything I've ever tested.Having a couple of beers every day, or at least one or two glasses of wine, if not more than once or twice or three weeks, was something that I just accept it as part inevitable in my life - well, except when I was in India and alcohol was more difficult to find.
