Car Accidents Steering Failure - News
Porter was originally charged only with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. One person was injured in a crash involving a grain truck and a car at 4:33 pm Wednesday near Route 47 and Caton Farm Road, the sheriff's office said.
Overcorrecting is the term used to describe a driver jerking the steering wheel hard to try to get back on track. Instead, it can cause the driver to lose control and the car to spin, overturn or hit trees, fences or guardrails.

caused the crash like a faulty steering wheel, gearbox, brakes or engine failure, were all functioning normally. This is contrary to what the driver of the car, 42-year-old Tran Anh Huy said after the accident in which two persons lost their lives.

And my car got loose, and it started moving out a little bit and I just held the wheel straight and it was essentially staying—steering almost downhill. It did not get sideways like really loose, loose, that I about wrecked. It just started steering
In a related police report, one of the children told police that Cox and her mother, Ms. Warren, were arguing when Ms. Warren either pushed Cox or grabbed the car's steering wheel, causing them to run off the road. Cox was later arrested for the DUI
Massive Recall of Chrysler Ram Pickups Related to Steering Defect ...
A massive recall has been announced which applies to over 240,000 Chrysler Ram Pickups because of a defect that could result in a loss of directional stability.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has indicated that the problem is linked to a tie-rod fracture caused by a weakening of the ball stud if the vehicle has alignment issues. The NHTSA indicates that the defect could result in a loss of steering control because the tie rod can break causing the left wheel of the vehicle to move independently. The vehicle manufacturer has indicated that the problem tends to manifest itself when the vehicle is being driven at low speeds while making a tight turn. There have been a number of car accidents related to the defect that were characterized as “minor” by the manufacturer. The current recall follows an earlier recall of 15,000 Ram Truck 4500 and 5500 models related to the same steering defect. The prior recall also was the result of similar consumer complaints.
While no serious injuries have been linked to this defect, many design and manufacturing defects can lead to serious car accidents. If a person is injured in an Atlanta car accident related to a manufacturing or design defect, the manufacturer or retailer may be liable under a strict liability or negligence theory for the product defect. An auto defect that causes a Georgia car accident requires expert testimony from an expert familiar with the design and manufacture of motor vehicles that can identify the defect and explain how the defect caused the car accident. It is also important to make sure that the car is not repaired or altered following the car crash.
Although most serious car accidents are caused by driver error, mechanical failures including those caused by auto defects play a role in a fair number of auto collisions. Mechanical failure plays a role in as many as 13 percent of car accidents. Steering defects can be responsible for mechanical failures that cause Atlanta car accidents. Other types of steering defects may include missing and broken parts that may lead to a steering malfunction. Defects in the power steering can also contribute to serious auto accidents.
