Shape up secret: Healthy turkey burgers and sit-ups

New bride Kim, 30, got into shape for her recent wedding by swapping ice cream and fries for salads with grilled chicken, quinoa and turkey burgers.

"I'm on a diet," admitted the reality TV star before her star-studded nuptials earlier this month to basketball star Kris Humphries.

"I need to be. I love to eat Kit Kats or cookies and cream flavour ice cream. I need sugar five times a day!

"But I finally said enough with the junk food. These days I prefer salads with grilled chicken or turkey burgers without the bun."

Kim was a self-confessed diet junkie in the past, admitting: "I'd try the Atkins diet, the cabbage soup diet, every ridiculous diet ever."

But now she sticks to calorie counting and regular exercise by doing plenty of bum and thigh toning squats and lunges, stomach crunches and stretching exercises like yoga. "To look and feel my best, I watch my calories and exercise. And right now, I can honestly say I'm in the best shape of my life," she reveals.

"It's good that Kim has ditched the fad diets," says James Duigan, who trains stars including model Elle Macpherson. "Rather than thinking, 'I'm on a diet and can't eat this', change your mindset and think, 'I want to be healthy so I'm going to eat lots of clean, nutritious food'.

"Kim had such a sweet tooth because of her diet. Lots of lean protein curbs sugar cravings.

"The less sugar we eat the less we crave it."

Articles on Weight Training Diet and Nutrition to Build Muscles ...

Diet is the most important part of a weight-training regime, and unfortunately the most neglected one at times. Many fail to realize that right nutrition is important for building quality muscle mass. And it requires right knowledge and information. As mentioned, diet and nutrition is essential for any fitness program and you must know what to eat and what to avoid to achieve success in your strength training goals.

Protein is one of the most important factors for building muscles. If your weight training diet plan fails to provide adequate supply of protein, even hours of exercise won't help in muscle growth. Thus, include optimum amount of protein in your diet plan to get the best result and to sustain your muscle growth. However, the protein requirement differs from individual to individual, depending on body types and weight training goals. In addition, it depends on the frequency of your strength training session and the amount of physical activity involved.

Ideally, a weight training diet should include around 20% to 30% protein i.e. 8 to 1.3 grams of protein per pound of your body weight. Also, have around six small meals instead of three large meals over 2 to 3 hours intervals. This will help to control your hunger and you can avoid overeating. Moreover, your body will have a constant supply of nutrients for muscle growth.

The following foods are some good sources of lean protein:

• Chicken breast
• Lean ham
• Low fat milk
• Venison
• Sirloin steak
• Fish
• Tofu
• Low fat cottage cheese
• Greek yogurt
• Scallops
• Round steak
• Turkey breasts
• Low fat cheddar cheese
• Egg whites
• Pork tenderloin
• Whey protein powder
• Lean turkey

Apart from protein, your body also requires a lot of good quality complex carbohydrates to build muscles.
