Springfield Police for Aug. 8

Police received a report that Footlocker employees were chasing a male who allegedly took a pair of sneakers and an employee’s wallet. Officer Daniel Boyd located the suspect in the 1400 block of Baltimore Pike. He was identified by store employees, taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Station, said police. The merchandise was valued at $180. A resident from the unit block of Longview Drive reported that sometime between 8 a.m. and 12:28 p.m., Aug. 2, someone forcibly entered her home through a rear basement window. Once inside, the person(s) rummaged through several room and took numerous items of jewelry, two LCD televisions, Wii games and controllers, and three iPods. A Glenolden resident told police, 7:08 a.m., Aug. 3, that sometime during the night someone forcibly entered her vehicle, parked in the lot at Genuardi’s Market in the 900 block of Baltimore Pike, and stole her pocketbook. The pocketbook contained various forms of identification, a large amount of cash and credit cards. The front passenger’s side window of the vehicle was smashed. Sometime between 10 a.m. and 8:56 p.m., Aug. 4, someone stole a Glenolden resident’s pocketbook while she attended classes at the Empire Beauty School in the 700 block of West Sproul Road. The pocketbook was next to her work station at the school and contained various forms of identification, credit cards and a small amount of cash.
