They hope this approach will advance machine intelligence to the point that robots start to think in a more human way. That goal has proved a formidable challenge. Take Watson, IBM's supercomputer which in February stole the crown from two human champions on the US quiz show Jeopardy! To do so, it used sophisticated successors of the first AI algorithms to tap massive databases stored on 90 servers. All that machinery required 80 kilowatts of energy to run, enough to power a small village. Our grey matter is spartan in comparison. "A brain consumes less power than a light bulb, and occupies less volume than a 2-litre bottle of soda," says Dharmendra Modha, a computer scientist at IBM. But power and space are just practical considerations. The more fundamental issue is that brute-force computation cannot compare with the functioning of a real brain. Human intelligence arises not from logic, but from our ability to respond to ambiguity and adjust to rapidly changing situations.

All of life is ruled by opinions and I disagree with yours. I would not even consider military service for any reason short of Foreign Troops approaching American soil. I care not for the freedom of any man who is not an American. Those who feel we need to free the world are fools and like fools will die for a government that disregards their desires. Consider this...every primitive tribe that lives in the jungles of Africa, S.America,or Borneo...etc...use substances they find in nature that inhance their ceremonies...but not a single adult in those primitive cultures would even think about having their youth have anything to do with those substances UNTIL the have gone through the 'ritual' which describes and gives the tribe's expectations, as a full tribe member, of the boy becoming a man or a girl becoming a woman. It has been in 'plan B' for over thirty years that the day must come when all boys and girls (not close to men and women) go through ritual of one year manditory conscription after highschool in either military (national guard) or civil service (health service, community sewrvice). Once completed after learning the expectations of a real free and independant citizen, than we can all vote for legalising marahuana nationally.
