Three local Sutter facilities on list of best places to work in health care

A trio of Sutter Health affiliates was named among the 100 best places to work in health care, according to industry journal Modern Healthcare.

Modern Healthcare named Sacramento's Sutter Health Foundation, Sutter Davis Hospital and Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center of Santa Cruz to its 2011 Best Places to Work in Healthcare, the magazine announced last week.

The 48-bed Sutter Davis facility was named to the list for the third consecutive year. Sutter Davis Hospital serves residents in Yolo and Solano counties.

Sutter Health Foundation was the only medical foundation to make the list. Its 1,300 physicians and specialists serve Sacramento, Nevada, Placer, Solano, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties.

The annual award recognizes outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on criteria including leadership and planning, work culture, training, benefits and overall satisfaction.

The industry journal will publish its rankings of its top 100 health organizations Oct. 24.

Sutter Davis Hospital named named one of best places to work in healthcare

Sutter Davis Hospital and Sutter Medical Foundation have been named “Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare magazine.

Sutter Davis was one of only two hospitals in California to receive the distinction, and Sutter Medical Foundation is the only medical foundation in the state to be on the list.

This is the fourth annual list produced by Modern Healthcare and the third year in a row that Sutter Davis Hospital has been recognized. It is the first year for Sutter Medical Foundation, a network of primary-care physicians and specialists throughout Sacramento, Nevada, Placer, Solano, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties.

“Along with our physician partners, Sutter Medical Group and Sutter Independent Physicians, we have worked hard over the years to create an environment where people feel engaged and empowered within their workplace,” said Tom Blinn, CEO of Sutter Medical Foundation, in a news release.

A few years ago, Sutter Medical Foundation launched an internal program called “Best, Best, Best” — to become the Best Place to Work, the Best Place to Practice and the Best Place to Receive Care.

“This award is proof that we are fulfilling our goal toward this ‘Best’ aspect of Sutter Medical Foundation,” Blinn said. “There is a strong belief and correlation that the focus on being the ‘Best’ must be a successful alignment of the environment and support of patient, clinicians and staff.”

For the third year in a row, Sutter Davis Hospital has joined Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center in Santa Cruz as the only hospitals in California to receive the Modern Healthcare honor.

The team at Sutter Davis Hospital has been on a “Journey to Excellence” over the past four years. “This journey is one that embodies the Sutter Difference, the health system’s culture of caring. The entire team focuses on safe patient care delivery, patient satisfaction and teamwork,” the news release said.
