Paul Wood is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (Georgia EMC). Georgia Georgia EMC represents 42 power companies (EMCS), Oglethorpe Power Corp., Georgia Transmission Corporation and Georgia System Operations Corporation, providing service to 4.5 million residents and businesses in Georgia.

Before becoming Woods President / CEO of Georgia EMC in September 1997, he served from 1983 to 1997 as executive director of the Association of electric cooperatives in Louisiana, Inc. He began his career in rural power in 1965 in East Central Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Inc. and in 1977 was appointed general manager of Dixie EMC, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

During his 44 year career rural electric, Wood served as president of the Association of Rural Electric Statewide Managers (RESMA) as a member of the NRECA Management Advisory Committee, NRECA Procedures Committee, the Working Group NRECA unit Health Care Task Force NRECA and Touchstone Energy Board.

Wood received a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Northwestern Louisiana State University.

Wood currently serves on the board of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Chamber of Commerce of Georgia.He was elected President of the Corporation for Economic Development in Georgia, Inc. He is also a member of the 4-H Foundation Board and is a member of FDR Warm Springs Memorial Advisory Committee and the Council of KidsPeace Associates. In 2004, he served as co-chair of the Governor ¡| s Conference on Tourism and in 2007 he was appointed by Governor Perdue to the President of the Commission for a New Georgia ¡| s Service Delivery Task Force.

Wood is a member of St. Jude's Episcopal Church, Marietta, Georgia.He has participated in numerous mission trips to Honduras and is currently serving as a member of the Finance Committee.
