Former WWE superstar Edge finds safe Haven on Syfy

Even though he is retired from in-ring competition, former WWE superstar Edge still finds himself occasionally on the Syfy channel on Friday nights.

It’s a different kind of smackdown as Edge portrays Dwight Hendrickson, rejoining the cast of Syfy’s supernatural series “Haven” for three more episodes at 10 p.m. (EST/PST) Sept. 9, 16 and 23.

Speaking of supernatural, “Haven” follows tag team partner “WWE Friday Night SmackDown” (8 p.m. EST/PST).

“I didn’t really put a whole lot of thought into it because I didn’t have a lot of time to really think about it,” Edge said in a phone interview. “I got the call to do [Haven] two or three days after I essentially retired. Then from there I went to the Tampa for the ‘Extreme Rules’ pay-per-view and flew directly from there to Nova Scotia. I was still wrapping my mind around retirement at that point so I wasn’t thinking about [Haven].”

Filmed in Nova Scotia, Edge debuted the Hendrickson character on the Aug. 5 episode of the weekly series.

“So I didn’t really have any pre-conceived expectations or anything one way or the other,” Edge said. “I just went into it as open minded as I could. I did think it would be fun because I’d get to head up to the east coast of Canada. I lived there before, and that would be nice to return.”
